How many oceans are there and what are their names?

Ocean is called the very large sea area. The term comes from the homonymous mythical god of Greek Mythology, Okeanos.

The oceans are 5 and are the following (by area from largest to smallest):

1. Pacific Ocean
2. Atlantic Ocean
3. Indian Ocean
4. Antarctic Ocean
5. Arctic Ocean

All together, they cover almost three-quarters (71%) of the surface of the earth.
