The Kiss is a well-known painting painted by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt between 1907 and 1908, the leading work of his so-called Golden Age when he painted various works in a similarly gilded style.
It is composed of oil paint with applied layers of gold leaf on a square canvas (180 x 180 cm).
It depicts a hugging couple and their bodies are entwined in elaborate robes influenced by the Art Nouveau style. It is considered to be the most famous work of Klimt, but also one of the most famous Art Nouveau paintings.
It is exhibited at the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere Museum in Vienna’s Belvedere Palace.
